Whatever you call them, this much is true: Misery Jackals play driving acoustic music
with a rebellious spirit and rawboned spunk whether they're singing about Sasquatch
("Skunk Ape") or unrequited love on the hoedown-flavored "Mudflap Girl."
The Misery Jackals play traditional bluegrass instruments in pseudo traditional and non-traditional styles along with non-traditional instruments, usually drums and accordion/organ/piano. Their music is often fast and intense, but not always. The songs tell the dark tales of things they've witnessed or experienced as inspiration. Bigfoot. Female Necrophilia. Cannibal Cowboy Zombies. The loss of a pet. The loss of our freedom. Sexual promiscuity. Homelessness. Addiction. Domestic violence. Just to name a few.
